A glossy design, touch screen feature and a host of useful apps make the BlackBerry Torch 9800 turn in a serious competitor in the Smartphone market. Yet, it running the latest operating system 6 from the Research of Motion and it did some improvement on the touch screen design.
When the first I hold of this BlackBerry device, I thought it was a bit heavy and bulky for carrying around inside the pocket. But it actually fit inside your bag or purse.
Design-wise, it is smooth and glossy, with a shiny steel exterior and a leather-like back cover. It has a fashionable design compare to others Smartphone and the slider slides up and down easily in a single-hand operation. With the slider up, you can utilize the full QWERTY keyboard underneath.
By default, from the home screen, you can manage your connections, set your alarm and set a Wi-Fi connection all in one page. It also shows all notifications from the social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, email and your messages. There´s also the Menu listing that can be neatly tucked down with a swipe of a finger once you are done accessing it.
The Torch´s 3.2-inch touch screen is sensitive to the touch and feels fluid.
The home screen is thoughtfully divided into five screens -- the Full Menu, Frequently Used Application, Favorites, Downloads and Media. If you hold down to any icons on the screen, a mini menu will appear to get you to your desired applications faster.
For typing messages, I prefer the physical QWERTY keyboard over the touch keypads, although the virtual counterpart does feature the options of the QWERTY keypad and the normal phone keypad.
The keys of the QWERTY do feel packed at first, but you´ll gain some speed and comfort as you continue to type on. Just like a Touch Screen phone user having a difficulty to get use in QWERTY, and it takes time to get use to it.
The Torch is built with a 5.0-megapixel camera and LED flashlight at the back, enabling you to take good pictures and videos in any environment. With it, you have features like face-detection, continuous auto focus and geotagging.
For the music lover, we always appreciate a phone that comes with a 3.5 audio jack input because I like to listen to music on my favorite headphones. Music quality is good enough, and you can listen to a wide range of radio stations through Music Apps.
Under Media, you can also enjoy podcasts, MP4 and voice recording.
To fully enjoy the Torch, I recommend you to get a good connection plan. For example, with Digi Smart data plan, I have connection options of the BlackBerry Messenger that allows me to keep tab with other BlackBerry friends or the BlackBerry Advance for full Internet access. You can also use the Wi-Fi to access the Internet, except that it does not support the BlackBerry Messenger.
With Web Browsing, going through the pages on the Internet is a breeze as the pages load speedily. All you need to do is zoom in or out using the touch screen to get a better view.
The Torch gives you everything you need to keep up in the current lifestyle. With a maximum connection plan, it is a powerful tool that gives you instant updates and information. The device is definitely a must to those who want to be socially active.
For business users, you will have the peace of mind of knowing that the Torch can handle enterprise-level apps when you work out of the office.

but i heard some of my friends said that blackberry torch is not that good ..is so big compared to other blackberry version
ReplyDeleteSo far the problem only happened on the first batch of BlackBerry Torch, and the local distribute BrightStar allow first batch user to change their phone if any failure.
ReplyDeleteI heart tht the blackberry torch 9800 Pinch-zooming can be chunky and there are some function gaps and glitches in software...but i think overall is nice..
ReplyDeleteAlthough BlackBerry Torch 9800 got a bit heavy, it comes with QWERTY keyboard, Optical Trackpad and Full Touch Screen that able the users switch between.
ReplyDeleteyes, i have the same thought. so i still prefer the classic BlackBerry, like Curve or Bold.
ReplyDeletetoo big and thick
ReplyDeletebut our wallet is thicker right? *laughs
